It all began with a simple idea - I want to go back to the land that runs in my blood. A longing for a place that I have seen many times before, but never connected with fully. The island of Madeira, Portugal. The ‘Pearl of the Atlantic’.
In 2024 I embarked on a little project titled ‘Saudade in Focus’. With the intention of travelling to Madeira and capturing as much of the island’s landscapes, scenery, tradition and people so that I could return to Australia and hold a photography exhibition to share it with the wider community.
